Lessons

Lessons will begin on Saturday, 21st October, 2017 and run for 9 weeks, with the last lesson on Saturday, 16th December.

Child Lessons start at 9:15am and finish at 9:45am.
Adult Lessons start at 10:00am and finish at 10:45am.

Conditions - Children

  • Children must be 4 years of age or older as at 21st October, 2017.
  • Normal Council Pool Entry applies when attending lessons.
  • Children must have a parent/guardian at the pool at all times.
  • If your child is unable to attend a lesson please let us know in advance. The best way to contact us is via email: learntoswim@merrylandsasc.asn.au or SMS 0409 664 448.
  • Unless asked by an instructor, parents/guardians are to refrain from speaking to their children or instructor whilst the lesson is in progress.
  • Children are not to swim before their lesson.
  • There are no "make up" lessons if classes are missed or cancelled. There is no refund of fees for classes that are missed or cancelled.
  • Refunds for fees will not be provided after the Grading Day.
  • Each child will be graded and allocated a colour. This colour represents the class that the child begins the program in. As your child progresses with their swimming, they will be moved into the next group. Please do not try to rush your child through the system. The different groups are: White (Level 1 - Water Familiarisation), Red (Level 2 - Water Confidence) and Orange (Level 3 - Swimming Skills and Water Safety).
  • Your child is required to be at the pool at least 5 minutes before the starting time of their class. Upon arrival at the pool, you must report to the Learn to Swim table and have your child’s name marked off. Your child should then line up behind the coloured marker representing their class.
  • Do not expect your child to swim expertly after a few lessons. Regular attendance is required and regular practice (under your supervision) of lessons taught will assist your child to progress more quickly.
  • Whilst your child’s progress through the program will indicate the attainment of a certain level of swimming, it should be recognised that such a level is not adequate protection against the many types of drowning accidents which each year claim many lives across the state. These lessons will not “drown proof” your child.

Conditions - Adults

  • Normal Council Pool Entry applies when attending lessons.
  • If you are unable to attend a lesson please let us know in advance. The best way to contact us is via email: learntoswim@merrylandsasc.asn.au or SMS 0409 664 448.
