Merrylands Swim Club sent a team of 30 swimmers to the inaugural Interclub Cup 3-Way Meet held at Granville Swimming Centre on the 30th November, 2013.

This carnival was the first between 3 local clubs: Parramatta City Swim Club, Parramatta Memorial Swim Club and Merrylands. Each club was allocated 2 lanes for each event and each age group and points were awarded by places 1st to 6th.

The points were very close throughout the afternoon however Merrylands came away overall point score winners and received the inaugural cup.

The carnival was enjoyed by all swimmers, young and old. For some club members this carnival was their first experience of swimming at a meet. It was a great atmosphere with the club cheering along their fellow swimming friends. Even all the club coaches competed and it was great for the kids to see their coaches in action. The relays were hotly contested and exciting to watch as the lead changed various times. The 10 x 50m freestyle relay proved a challenge as results were given to teams who swam closest to their entry time rather than by places.

All the competitors enjoyed a well-deserved sausage sizzle following the event. The club is already looking forward to maintaining our win at next year’s 3-Way Meet!
