Merrylands' four swimmers performed well at this weekend's Cumberland Short Course Championships despite a disrupted preparation.

All of our swimmers swam at least one personal best time with a total of 8 PBs from 15 swims. We also had finalists in 9 events. All of this after only one full week of pool training over the last 7 weeks due to the closure of Wentworthville Pool.

Our first PB of the meet didn't come until Session 3, when Peter Johnston took over a second off his time in the Open 200m Breaststroke. But from then on, our swimmers swam personal best times in 7 out of the remaining 10 events.
Amber Johnson took just under a second off her 50m Breastroke time and broke her 100m Freestyle time by over 3 seconds. Todd Jenkin broke his 50m Freestyle time to go under 27 seconds for the first time while Peter Johnston went under 32 seconds for the first time in the 50m Butterfly.
Brittany Johnson did PBs in all three of her events, breaking her times in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and finishing off the meet with a 3.5 second PB in the 200m Individual Medley.

Our finalists at the meet included:

Brittany Johnson
50m Freestyle (8th)
50m Butterfly (6th)
200m Individual Medley (8th)
Todd Jenkin
50m Freestyle (10th)
