Merrylands' team of 16 had fantastic results at the Revesby Inter-Club Meet this weekend. Our team competed in 49 individual events and 4 relay events and scored an impressive 25 new Personal Best times, 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals.
There were numerous highlights, both in and out of the pool. Our swimmers proved to be just as competitive at Uno as they were in their races!
Gabriella Assi achieved 2 new personal best times with a huge chunk off her 100m Breaststroke time.
Joseph Assi continued to improve his 50m Butterfly best with another half a second off his time.
Daniel Brancatisano travelled from the Central Coast to sub in for extra relays and achieved new personal best times in both his individual events.
Grace Brancatisano had solid swims and was just outside her 50m Freestyle personal best, which she set at club 2 weeks ago.
Ruth Brancatisano had a huge day with 2 new personal bests and picked up 1st place in her 25m Backstroke. Ruth also swam four 50m Freestyles between club races, individual races and relays!
Damien Chan was carrying a soccer injury, but still swam a gutsy 50m Backstroke with an amazing start and contributed two strong relay legs to support the team.
Marcus Chan swam 2 new personal best times and picked up a gold medal for his efforts in the 50m Breaststroke.
Tomas Dlesk achieved a huge 6 new personal bests and earned a medal in each colour, with his highlight being the gold in the 200m Freestyle.
Coralie Havea came for a splash and dash and knocked further time off her 50m Freestyle as well as swimming a beautiful anchor for our 10x50 relay team.
William Johnston had a fine swim in his 100m Breaststroke with a new personal best time.
Jaden Morera picked up 2 shiny bronze medals in his 50m Fly and 100m Freestyle as well as a personal best in the 50m Backstroke.
Xavier Ou had an incredible 50m Backstroke, taking almost 8 seconds off his time, as well as dipping under 50 seconds for the 50m Freestyle for the first time.
Alison Johnston jumped in between coaching and earned a bronze medal in the 50m Freestyle.
Jokubas Urbonas took off like a flash in the 200m Freestyle and held on for a gold medal.
Leo Zhu had a classy 100m Breaststroke to pick up a gold, as well as earning 2 silver and 1 bronze medal. Leo came oh so close to cracking the minute for his 100 Freestyle.
Lillian Zhu continued her fine form with new personal bests in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle.
