Holroyd City Council will hold an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday, 26 May 2015 to consider a report on Council’s swimming pools.

The Meeting will be held at the Holroyd Centre, 17 Miller Street, Merrylands (parking off Newman Street) at 6:30pm.

The Council Report and Consultant's Report are available on Council's website.

The Council Report contains 4 options:

Option 1 - Do not develop HRAWC (Holroyd Regional Aquatic Wellness Centre) but repair and update all three Council Swim Centres.

Option 2 - Develop HRAWC (Stage 1) at Merrylands Regional Park, and refurbish and continue to operate Guildford Swim Centre and Wentworthville Swim Centre.

Option 3 - Develop HRAWC (Stage 1) at Merrylands Regional Park and close Guildford Swim Centre (due to shared catchment and close location of both facilities) and refurbish and continue to operate Wentworthville Swim Centre.

Option 4 - Develop HRAWC (Stage 1 and Stage 2 components) and close both Guildford and Wentworthville Swim Centre on the basis that the expanded facility (comprising two 50 metre pools and two other pools) will service Holroyd City’s total population.

The meeting will be open to the public, and members of the public may request the opportunity to speak at the meeting.

Our Club Committee will be meeting ahead of the meeting to discuss the report. The club's Position Statement on the proposed re-development can be found here.
