Merrylands’ team of 34 swimmers and supporters has returned from this weekend’s Cash Challenge Carnival
in Bathurst with some great results and having had a great time.
The team left Merrylands pool for the trip to Bathurst on Saturday afternoon. On arrival the kids hit
the pool while the parents prepared a wonderful dinner.
After dinner most of us headed to what many
people refered to as the biggest or best room (before realising that 11 members of our team were
actually staying in it - it didn't seem quite so big then) to watch the Australia/New Zealand Rugby
World Cup Semi-Final. Despite the fact that not too many of us new the rules we still had great time
watching the match.
On Sunday we did the 5 minute walk up the road (via McDonalds) to the Bathurst Olympic Pool for the
carnival. A number of swimmers picked up some handy pocket money at the carnival and swam some good
times not to mention Joseph's medals. We got out of there just in time, just as the storm hit for the
trip home.
Congratulations and thankyou to our members who helped organise the trip. Thankyou to Peter for
organising the trip and the entries, Pauline for organising the accommodation, Russel for organising
the bus, Kerrie for organising the food and to Noel from Pick of the Crop for getting us there and
back safely. Thank you also to Ian, Tricia, and Jo for all their help with orgainsing the trip as well
as everyone who helped with dinner. Without the efforts of all these people the trip would never have
gone ahead or been such a success.
A full report will be in the Whales Tales newsletter.
The results will be posted when available and keep an eye out for the photos.
